SALON & SPA NOW OPEN!

Eat That Pumpkin,

 Don't Carve It!

dog3_pumpkin.jpg

It turns out, pumpkins are good for more than making faces; they are also nutritional powerhouses. Not only are they loaded with Vitamin A and anti-oxidants like alpha and beta carotene, but they are a great source of vitamins C, K, and E, as well as minerals like Magnesium, Iron, and Potassium (actually, moreso than bananas). Pumpkin is great for all members of your family, including your dog. Add a tablespoon or two of fresh pumpkin to Fido's bowl to help aid constipation, or diarrhea (yes it works both ways!).  Be sure not to confuse fresh pumpkin with pumpkin pie filling; the sugars and additives are definitely not pet-friendly.

Don't forget to save those seeds either, pumpkin seeds are a great source of iron and zinc for humans, and they also contain essential amino fatty acids. Save the energy and eat pumpkin seeds raw, as heat will damage the fatty acids and can cause plaque buildup in arteries.
